Oliebollen (Dutch doughnuts)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup butter 
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 yeast cakes (1.5 tbsp active yeast)
  • 6 cups flour
  • ½ cup dried fruit (like currants, optional)
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for garnish

Oliebollen

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup butter 
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 yeast cakes (1.5 tbsp active yeast)
  • 6 cups flour
  • ½ cup dried fruit (like currants, optional)
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for garnish
Directions:
  1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water; mix all ingredients into a soft dough.
  2. Let the dough sit in a warm place until it rises to double in size.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of dough into hot oil.
  4. Fry until golden brown.
