Gooey goodness alert!

Savor the deliciousness of bolinhas de queijo, little cheese balls that are even better than mozzarella sticks!

These delightful treats hold a special place in Seattle Chef Emme’s heart, a cherished childhood memory that she recreates with her own kids. Using Darigold‘s milk and butter, along with Appel Cheese‘s farmstead swiss, she creates ooey-gooey cheese balls that are simply irresistible, and enjoy the goodness of locally sourced dairy in every bite!

Bolinhas de Queijo (Brazilian Mozzarella Cheese Ball)

  • 2 cups Darigold milk of your preference
  • 1 1/2 cups AP flour
  • 1 tbsp Darigold butter
  • Appel Farms Farmstead Swiss cheese 7oz, cubed
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs or panko
  1. Preheat the deep fryer to 375 degrees F.

  2. In a saucepan bring milk to a boil. Add flour and butter and stir until everything is well incorporated. Remove from heat and let cool.

  3. Once cooled down, knead until the dough is smooth.

  4. Scoop 1 tablespoon of dough, flatten it out with the palm of your hands. Add a cube of cheese and roll it into a small ball. Repeat with the remaining dough.

  5. Coat with egg and breadcrumbs and place in a tray. Repeat the process with the rest of the balls.

  6. Place balls in deep fryer and fry until golden brown – about 4-5 minutes.
