Bolinha de Queijo (Brazilian Mozzarella Cheese Ball​)

These delightful treats hold a special place in Seattle Chef Emme’s heart, a cherished childhood memory that she recreates with her own kids. Using Darigold‘s milk and butter, along with Appel Cheese‘s farmstead swiss, she creates ooey-gooey cheese balls that are simply irresistible, and enjoy the goodness of locally sourced dairy in every bite! 


Bolinhas de Queijo (Brazilian Mozzarella Cheese Ball​)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Darigold milk of your preference ​
  • 1 1/2 cups AP flour ​
  • 1 tbsp Darigold butter ​
  • Appel Farms Farmstead Swiss cheese 7oz, cubed ​
  • 1 egg, whisked ​
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs or panko ​
Directions:
  1. Preheat the deep fryer to 375 degrees F.

  2. In a saucepan bring milk to a boil. Add flour and butter and stir until everything is well incorporated. Remove from heat and let cool. 

  3. Once cooled down, knead until the dough is smooth. 

  4. Scoop 1 tablespoon of dough, flatten it out with the palm of your hands. Add a cube of cheese and roll it into a small ball. Repeat with the remaining dough.

  5. Coat with egg and breadcrumbs and place in a tray. Repeat the process with the rest of the balls. 

  6. Place balls in deep fryer and fry until golden brown – about 4-5 minutes.
