Lumpia Smash Burger

Servings: 4

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1/2 onion, diced finely

  • 1 medium carrot, diced finely

  • 5 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 5 oz Beecher’s Just Jack cheese, shredded

  • 4 potato hamburger buns, buttered and toasted

  • Oil and spray oil

  • Toppings: lettuce and tomato

For sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp sweet chili sauce

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • Pinch of salt

Directions:
  1. Heat oil in a skillet to medium heat and sauté the onions, carrots, and garlic for 3-5 minutes then set aside to cool.

  2. Meanwhile mix up the sauce: mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, pepper, and salt.

  3. In a large bowl, add in the ground beef and the cooled veg and season with oyster sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well then divide into 4 portions and roll into a ball.

  4. Heat the pan to medium and spray with oil and put in 1 meatball, smash down with a flat spatula and the end of another spatula. Allow the meat to cook for about 3 minutes on each side and a crust forms. Set aside the patties on a sheet pan.

  5. Evenly distribute the shredded cheese on all 4 patties then broil in the oven for about 2-3 minutes or until the cheese melts.

  6. Lastly, build the burgers: add the lumpia patties on the toasted buns, the tomato (don’t forget to season with a little salt), lettuce, and sauce on the top bun and enjoy!
