Dairy Farmers of Washington is committed to supporting the next generation of dairy farmers and industry professionals who will strengthen the Washington dairy industry.

The Future of Dairy Scholarship recipient will be a leader amidst their peers and committed to strengthening the Washington dairy community and will receive $5,000. Two runners up will each receive $1,500.

Applications may be submitted from August 1, 2021 through September 15, 2021 (*Extended until 9/24/21*). Please contact Jeff Steele (Je[email protected]) with any questions.



The applicant must be enrolled in a four-year university, two-year college and/or trade school for the 2021-2022 academic year. Eligible majors are those, directly and indirectly, connected with the dairy industry that will lead to a future career supporting dairy, including but not limited to agricultural science, animal or dairy science, agricultural economics, environmental science, human nutrition (dietitian working in the dairy industry, for example), trade school programs that develop skills needed in a dairy-related career, public relations/marketing (used in the dairy industry), etc. Children of Washington dairy farmers are eligible to apply.


Evaluation Criteria

All applications will be evaluated by a committee designated by Dairy Farmers of Washington based on answers to essay questions and other short-answer questions included in the application.

Please add “Future of Dairy Scholarship” to the subject line. All components of the application must be completed for consideration, including letters of recommendation.

Scholarship awards can be used to pay tuition and fees for enrollment or attendance at an educational institution to include colleges, universities, or vocational schools. Scholarships must be used within the following year of being awarded.
